Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies any result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive basic technical details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Pages viewed and the length of those visits
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help show which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that usage data for measurement. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing faults and repairing technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining reasonable load times
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Measuring which content visitors use and where improvement is needed
- Delivering advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to official Marshall County and Iowa custodians, including the sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI, and Iowa Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure rules apply to information submitted there. This policy does not control a partner's processing. Read the relevant provider policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Iowa agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites for targeted ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to a limited set of recipients:
- Advertising networks that serve content on the pages
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers that receive a visitor's submitted query
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, so the site cannot guarantee that an intrusion or loss will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Notice that a minor supplied information will prompt a deletion review.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where a visitor lives and which law applies. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to public records, while chapter 692 governs state criminal-history dissemination; neither turns this private site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask to review personal information held about you
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
